Today the students completed their parts in a reader's theater play on Athens and Sparta. We are copying the link so they can answer questions they were given. The questions are due next Friday. Thanks.

5/6 Team

5/6 Project Group

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to inform you of what our 5/6th graders will need as we move forward with this quarter’s project group, which will be held on Monday, December 12th from 5-6pm at the middle school.

Each student has been assigned a god or goddess who they will represent the night of summatives. They will be required to dress up as their character that evening. Please make sure that your student is properly dressed underneath their costume because they will be participating in the Olympic games that night as well.

Each student will be required to bring in a box, which they will be decorating as their chariot to be raced during our Olympic games. Boxes need to be brought into school no later than November 3rd. Examples of the size of the box needed would be a fruit box or a small moving box.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you might have.

Thank you for support,

5/6th Grade TCs

Field Trip Reminder/Info

Parents/Caregivers-

Just sending a reminder about our field trip on Monday, October 3rd.

We will be visiting Usery Pass. We will stop at the education center, drop our stuff off at the ramadas, and head for the hills by 9:30 or 10:00. Your kiddo should bring a bottle of water/camelback (we will have extra water at the ramadas and carried with us on the hike), a hat if desired (we would recommend it), comfy shoes, sunscreen and a snack. We'll eat snack at the top of the mountain and head back down for lunch.

We asked the students NOT to bring electronics since the bus trip is so short. Although, they may bring a camera if they wish (our photo club kids are taking theirs).

Thanks to all parents who asked if we needed extra help, but we will have 11 adults going (teachers and student teachers) on this field trip each taking a cell phone. We will also have a first aid kit in tow. We will be taking more in the future and will enlist your help.

Have a great day!!

Field Trip October 3rd / Free dress day

Hello All-

We will be taking a field trip to Usery Mountain Regional Park on Monday, October 3rd. The cost is only $8.00 and that includes hot dogs, chips, and water for lunch (if your kiddo doesn't like hot dogs, they can bring a sack lunch). We are asking all permission forms and money be returned by Wednesday, September 28th so we have time to purchase the food. This field trip involves the plant identification and experiments they have been conducting in class. We will hike up to the Wind Cave. Students should bring a small snack that they can eat when we stop at the Wind Cave.

Also, we will allow the students a "free" dress day on the day of the field trip if they bring in a dollar (school appropriate attire according to the student handbook).

Thanks and please let your child's homeroom teacher know if you have any questions.

Items from Home

Parents/Caregivers-

Tomorrow, Tuesday September 20th, the students in science class will be classifying random items they bring from home. We are asking each student to bring 2 items. Thank you.

Pizza this Friday

Parents and Caregivers-

The students have acquired ten Sparky points for good behavior/compliments from others. We will be having a pizza party during lunch on Friday, September 16th. The cost is $1.00 per slice of either cheese or pepperoni.

We ask that money be submitted by Thursday, September 15th so we can plan accordingly. Thank you.

First Quarter Summative

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians-

The 5/6 cluster will have their first summative on Thursday, September 29th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the middle school. It will be conducted as a "gallery walk", open house format. The students will be presenting their river valley models and sharing their created podcasts. Thank you.

Filed Trip

We are trying to set up a field trip in late October to the ropes course- a community building event on the Peralta Trail.

Please stay posted for upcoming information and needed volunteers if the scheduling works out!!!

Welcome Parents and Caregivers

Thank you so much for your patience as we waited to see what was to become of the ASU individual teacher websites. They are not ready yet, so we will be utilizing this blog until they are up and running.

Your children have been busy learning about their assigned river valleys and they will soon begin building their models and creating their podcasts. We look forward to their creations!!

We will be busy gathering needed supplies in order to build their models- in the near future we will be posting/emailing small items that you can provide to help make this project a success.
